Why Choose the WiseEye DC-2 No Glow?

Undetectable 940nm No Glow Illumination

The biggest reason to choose this version of the DC-2 is simple: you don’t want your camera lighting up at night.

The DC-2 No Glow uses 940nm infrared illumination that is virtually invisible when the camera takes a nighttime picture or video.

That makes it my choice when I’m trying to keep a camera as covert as possible.

Security is an obvious application. If someone walks past a camera at night, the last thing you want is a red glow advertising exactly where your expensive trail camera is hanging.

There are hunting applications as well. On high-pressure properties or around wary animals, No Glow gives you another way to reduce the camera’s presence.

No Glow vs. IR — Which DC-2 Should You Choose?

This is probably the most important question to answer before choosing between the two DC-2 models.

Choose the DC-2 No Glow if:
Keeping your camera undetectable at night is your top priority. It’s my choice for security applications, high-pressure hunting areas, wary animals, and other situations where I don’t want visible illumination giving away the camera.

Choose the DC-2 IR if:
Maximum nighttime illumination distance and the sharpest possible nighttime image and video quality are more important. The 850nm IR LEDs produce a faint red glow, but they provide better illumination distance and clarity.

There’s a tradeoff with No Glow. You gain covert 940nm illumination but give up a little nighttime illumination distance and clarity compared to the DC-2 IR.

That doesn’t mean the No Glow produces poor nighttime images — far from it. In my experience, the DC-2 No Glow still produces better images and video than many competitors using standard IR illumination. WiseEye has simply set a pretty high bar with the IR DC-2.

HD Pictures and Video

Going No Glow doesn’t mean giving up the picture quality WiseEye is known for.

If high-definition pictures and video are important to you, the DC-2 No Glow delivers some of the best quality I’ve seen from a No Glow cellular trail camera.

That’s an important distinction because No Glow cameras traditionally make a compromise to achieve invisible nighttime illumination. WiseEye has done a very good job of maintaining impressive picture and video quality while keeping the nighttime flash covert.

Excellent Cell Reception

Being covert doesn’t do much good if your camera can’t send you pictures.

I’ve tested multiple DC-2s in poor cell reception spots — we’re talking “No Service” on my phone spots. I was very surprised that they picked up service, and even more surprised by how quickly the images were sent out.

With 2 high-power cellular antennas and MultiCarrier connectivity, the DC-2 No Glow does an excellent job finding service in marginal areas.

Poor reception does require more power as the camera works harder to maintain its cellular connection. In those locations, adding supplemental power — especially solar where adequate sunlight is available — is something I highly recommend.

Easy Setup with Front-Facing LCD Screen

One of my favorite DC-2 features has nothing to do with cellular service or nighttime illumination — it’s the front-facing LCD screen.

You can stand in front of the camera and see exactly where it’s aimed while you’re setting it up.

You can also make setting changes and check cellular signal strength directly from the camera before leaving the location.

Snap a few test pictures, check your HuntControl App, and you’re ready to go.

Live Stream for Hunting or Security

Live Stream is particularly useful on the No Glow model because this camera works so well for both hunting and security applications.

Want to see if deer are standing outside your normal detection area on a food plot? Check Live Stream.

Using the cameras around a cabin, gate, equipment area, or another security location? Live Stream gives you another way to remotely see what’s happening.

Just remember that Live Stream requires good cellular reception for smooth video transmission.

The cameras might be identical, but that doesn’t mean you have to configure them identically.

Add the power, storage, and security accessories you need and leave out the ones you don’t.

Li-Ion Battery Cartridge + Solar Panel — My Favorite Combination

If you’re looking for a long-term rechargeable power setup, this is my favorite combination for the DC-2 No Glow.

The rechargeable Li-ion Battery Cartridge replaces the camera’s standard AA battery tray, giving you additional rechargeable battery storage inside the camera.

Pair that with the WiseEye Solar Panel, which has its own built-in 5000mAh Li-ion battery, and you have battery storage in both the camera and solar panel.

Better yet, the solar panel can help keep the Li-ion cartridge inside the DC-2 charged.

That extra stored power is useful overnight, during cloudy weather, during periods of heavy camera activity, and in marginal cellular locations where the camera may consume more power maintaining its connection.

For a DC-2 No Glow in a location with dependable sunlight, Solar Panel + Li-ion Battery Cartridge is the setup I’d choose.

WiseEye Solar Panels

You don’t have to add the Li-ion cartridge to use solar.

The WiseEye Solar Panel contains its own rechargeable 5000mAh battery, making it a great standalone option if your location gets enough sunlight and you want to reduce battery changes and trips into the area.

That’s especially valuable with a covert No Glow setup. The less often you need to walk into the location to service your cameras, the less disturbance you’re creating around them.

Add the Li-ion cartridge if you want to increase your total rechargeable battery storage even further.

12V Trail Camera Battery Boxes

Some of the best places for a No Glow camera are also some of the worst places for a solar panel.

Deep timber, shaded access trails, and concealed security locations don’t always receive enough dependable sunlight.

That’s where our weatherproof 12V battery box makes sense.

Add your own compatible 12V battery and you have a large external power source that doesn’t depend on sunlight.

The armored stainless-steel power cable also helps prevent squirrels and other critters from chewing through your power cord.

IMPORTANT: 12V battery is NOT included.

WiseEye DC-2 Security Boxes

If you’re choosing No Glow because you’re concerned about keeping your cameras discreet, a security box is an accessory I’d strongly consider.

The WiseEye DC-2 Security Box adds heavy-duty steel protection around the camera to help protect it from theft, bears, and other potential damage.

It also gives you multiple mounting options and padlock holes so the camera can be locked inside the box.

For security applications, public-land setups where legal, locations near roads or property boundaries, and anywhere you’re concerned about someone finding your cameras, pairing No Glow illumination with a security box makes a lot of sense.

Mounting hardware, cable locks, and padlocks are not included.

WiseEye 32GB SD Cards

SD cards are optional — the DC-2 No Glow has 32GB of internal storage built in.

That means you can operate both cameras without purchasing SD cards.

You can still add WiseEye 32GB Class 10 U3 SD cards if you’d like removable storage or additional storage capacity.

I personally like having an SD card in my cameras even when it isn’t required. It gives you removable storage and another way to access your full-resolution pictures and videos when you’re physically at the camera.

Which DC-2 No Glow Power Setup Should I Choose?

Li-Ion Battery Cartridge:
A great rechargeable alternative to AA batteries and even better when paired with solar.

WiseEye Solar Panel:
A great choice for long-term locations with adequate sunlight. Its built-in battery stores power even when the sun isn’t shining.

Li-Ion Cartridge + Solar Panel:
My favorite combination. The Li-ion cartridge adds rechargeable battery capacity inside the camera while the solar panel provides additional stored power and helps keep the camera’s Li-ion battery charged.

12V Battery Box:
My choice for shaded locations, deep timber, or anywhere solar isn’t practical. Add your own compatible 12V battery for a large external power source that doesn’t depend on sunlight.

Build Your DC-2 No Glow Bundle Your Way

Maybe you want Li-ion cartridges and solar panels on both cameras. Maybe one is going deep into shaded timber where a 12V battery box makes more sense. Or maybe these cameras are being used for security and you want to add DC-2 security boxes to both.
