J series 4 D battery compartment Model PW-3594

The PW-3594 Cuddelink J Series 4D battery compartment is pretty easy to replace. Simply loosen the four phillips screws on the back of the camera (recessed into the battery compartment) and pry the battery compartment away from the main camera housing. Sometimes this can stick and a small flat screwdriver helps separate them (make sure screws are fully backed out first). Then mate the new 4D battery compartment the same way as the original and tighten the phillips screws.

If you have a factory installed 4D compartment on your J series camera (models J-1521, J-1538) then you will need a T10 torx security bit to remove the original battery compartment screws.

No. Rechargeable D batteries don’t have enough voltage to power the camera and since the 4D batteries operate at a different voltage than the external power options those external power sources (like solar panels) won’t be able to recharge the rechargeable batteries inside the camera.

Only use alkaline D batteries inside 4D cameras.

Yes. Simply swap the AA battery compartment to this new 4D battery compartment, then make sure to set your battery setting on in the camera settings from 12 AA to 4D. I recommend changing this battery setting before changing the battery compartment, you can also use an external power source (battery pack or solar panel) to power the camera up to change this setting.
