I’m not sure if this is a blog article or a poem but as I thought about this week's topic I remembered writing down the “why” behind why I hunt, fish, etc…
It just flowed out of me one day...
I searched my google docs and phone for it, I knew it was here somewhere...and I finally found it in one of my numerous filled up notebooks (I have hand written notes and papers everywhere).
Here’s why I do it.
The Challenge
The challenge of my mind…
The challenge of my body…
The challenge of my will…
The challenge of my discipline…
The challenge of my soul…
I crave the adventure...the exploration...the unknown…
I relish in the struggle....in the pain…
I curse the struggle in the moment and wonder why I put myself through the discomfort…
Why do I do this to myself?
I tell myself I will probably never do this again…
But as it’s over...sometimes days or even hours after the struggle…
I find myself planning the next trip...planning my next move…
I’m simply addicted to how these things challenge my entire being…
How the animals, fish, and elements punish me...and yet amaze me at the same time…
If it ever becomes too easy...too automatic...I think I would stop…
That’s how I know the challenge is my driver...

Why do you do it? What is your driver?
I’d love to hear it!
