Education shortens the learning curve…

I and about 20 others spent this past -5 degree Saturday taking a nice little walk in a SE Wisconsin swamp…

Good Times.

Great People!

It was a scouting workshop hosted by Dan Infalt of the “Hunting Beast”...

I’ve always been eager to learn and for years have consumed tons of books, podcasts, articles, and videos on how to become a better hunter, create better habitat, food plots, etc…

A couple years ago I kept hearing about the “Hunting Beast Forum” and this guy named Dan so of course I looked him up…

His free content in forms of articles, interviews, FB posts, and YouTube videos really resonated with me personally so i decided to pick up some of his DVD’s

Man those were an eye opener…

While they’re not professional “TV show” productions they sure as hell taught me more than any TV show ever did…

I used what I learned from those DVD’s this year when I decided to leave the family farm in North Central Wisconsin and move my small family (wife and daughter) to Iowa solely to chase deer…

I’d never even been to Iowa before I moved there…I knew nobody...and it was going to be 100% public land hunting unless I got lucky and stumbled onto some private (I didn’t)...

Long story short I did pretty well killing a nice 140 class 10pt with the bow on Iowa public land and then going back home to private land in Wisconsin where I hunted for years without the success I was looking for with the bow and killed a 120 inch 9pt in 2 days of hunting…

I then came back home to Wisconsin during gun season to try killing another buck I was after...on the last morning of season I was going to sit a spot behind my parents place but I woke up sicker than a dog....it was a no go…

That buck walked past my Cuddelink Cell cam in front of the spot I was going to sit at 8:30 a.m. chasing a doe....

I felt a little sicker…

My cousin ended up shooting that buck a few days later with the muzzleloader not far from where I was going to hunt, he was a 141” 9pt...

I was happy that he got him since he wasn’t having a great season but felt weird as I was already planning my moves on him for next year…

I didn’t write about my successes this year to brag...but to instead show what is possible if you keep learning from others and then apply what you learn in the field…

I spent 10 years without filling a bow buck tag...part of that was a lack of time, part a lack of knowledge/preparation, and part was maybe a higher standard for bucks than were available in my area…

In any case never stop learning...never stop trying…

For me the scouting workshop in the swamp confirmed a lot of what I learned from Dan already through his DVD’s and through my observations when scouting and hunting this past season…

And that's exactly what i wanted...It meant things are starting to click for me which will give me even more confidence for next season!

If you’re on the fence about scouting workshops, books, courses, or DVD’s (from anyone) I’d say this...do it…

You can always get more money...but you can’t get more time...and these things can get you to where you want to be faster...

Even a bad book can teach you something…

Oh and the people you meet at these paid events are amazing!

Everyone is there for the same thing...to become better!

There’s nothing better than a group for hunters getting together to share their passion in a positive way…

I absolutely loved it…
